Kolkata Knight Riders represents the Kolkata team in the IPL. The ex skipper of the Indian Cricket Team Sourav Ganguly is appointed captain of KKR.
Bollywood actor ShahRukh Khan has purchased KKR for an amount of $75.09 million at the auction conducted in 2008.

Shah Rukh has selected very good players for his team. First among them is the Australian captain Ricky Ponting. Indian upcoming super star Ishath Sharma is also there in the team. He was bid for the highest amount in the team.

Shah Rukh himself and actress Juhi Chawla will be the brand Ambassadors for this team.

John Buchanan, the former Australian coach, was also the coach for this team but is replaced by Dav Whatmore for Indian Premier League 2010.
